IMS Global Learning Consortium is the world-leading collaboration of advancing technology, innovation, and learning in education. Now Openbadges.me have announced they have been certified with the Open Badges 2.0 issuer standard.
The IMS certification is a bond of trust and commitment to create innovative products that benefit everyone from students, employers, teachers, and more in a digital way. The Open Badges 2.0 standard is the latest verification process and requires the Openbadges.me platform to allow learner-control of credentials, show achievements, and to guarantee that learners can display and share their badges on every IMS certified platform (such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, and many more).
Chief executive officer of IMS Dr. Rob Abel says:
Open Badges v2.0 provides a robust construct that can serve as the digital currency for achievements providing value to earners, educational institutions, and employers.”
With Openbadges.me becoming certified, Adam Doyle, Managing Director at MyKnowledgeMap, the creators of Openbadges.me says, “We are delighted that Openbadges.me supports the V2.0 standard and pleased to work with IMS to build a global standard of digital badging and certification."
The certification follows the Openbadges.me path of making Open Badges available to everyone and integrating with a range of learning management systems. Existing users of Openbadges.me have integrated their badging initiatives with Moodle, Canvas, and Blackboard with the API features. Openbadges.me are now working towards gaining additional certification for all three IMS badging credentials.
